OBD2 data interpretation?

97 chevy astro, 4.3L v6.

Pulled a code P0101 off the MIL indicator, Actron website says MAF sensor reading. Can anyone interpret this and/or advise on ease of service/replacement?

dodge Man, you are right on the money with that evaluation. Currently the code remains in ECM, I have cleared it once and it reappeared, so I figured it to be a legit fault code. The engine currently does hesitate especially when I try to accelerate, which would fit your scenario. I’m still waiting for answers, but I’m going to purchase a MAF sensor at my local auto parts warehouse.

Its either a loose wire to the Mass Air Flow Sensor, or bad Mass Air Flow Sensor. According to the diagnostic flowchart, if no other fault codes exist, replace the MAF Sensor. The MAF sensor is located between the filter housing and the throttle body. It is fairly easy to replace, and you might as well change your air filter at the same time.

Replacement MSRP is 268.26, but parts.com has it for $154.25

Just select your vehicle and search “air flow sensor,” or just go to your local auto parts store and tell them you need a MAF sensor for a 97 astro.

If you do a lot of your own troubleshooting and maintenance, you may want to invest in a Haynes or Chilton Manual.
