Any good deal on an OBD-II Serial cable ?
Hey I am interested in making an OBDuino for my 2008 Civic (uses CAN). Anyway, I was looking around eBay for related materials and found these cables (says there are more than ten, Buy-it-Now for $8.49, free shipping). It appears that the pinout is correct. One difference is that the chassis ground and signal ground are together…but that shouldn’t matter should it? Would this be a good cable to buy? Thanks!
Also would the Seeeduino be a good choice of arduino clone? I was looking at the Freeduino SB kit, but the Seeeduino comes already assembled for the same price.
Personally I would rather choose the assembled one, given they are in the same price range. If anything goes wrong you will have less items to diagnose the fault as the cable was already assembled (one less item – unless it was defective from new!) You are correct the chassis and signal ground should not make any difference as long as they are properly earthed to the body. I always advise you to contact the buyer for their confirmation by asking them if the unit will work on your car. Better play it safe!
