99 dodge dakota starting problem?
Ok guys, here is my problem. My truck won’t start after sitting over night..after a while I can retry starting it and it will usually start. This usually happens after 4 or 5 hours, sometimes longer as much as 3 days. What happens is I turn the key and the engine turns over fine. She cranks great but will not fire up. I have tested for sparks..they’re great…as for fuel.. its getting great pressure to the fuel line so its not the pump. One day the starter wouldn’t crank so I though ah ha the starter. Well nope I had that checked and its in perfect working order. I ran an obd tester on her and it comes back clean no error codes. Another thing I noticed is once she decides to start, she starts fine, and every time after till I let her sit for awhile – usually overnight. I think it has something to do with my ignition system but I am not sure. Any help would be great.. this one has me stumped.

Try a crank sensor as they have a bad habit of not showing up through a diagnostic scan. Also check battery terminals and all earthing points within the engine bay for corrosion, contamination, loose fits and frayed wire insulations. You can be surprised that the fault might be something so small but defeating to trace. Good luck Brian, and let us know about your results.
