How do I manually reset the Check Engine Light on a 2000 Infiniti QX4 without using an OBD II Scan Tool?
I performed a service on the car myself; but the check engine light is still on. How do I reset it myself without having to purchase an expensive OBD scanner?
I know AutoZone or Checkers can do this for free, but there are no locations nearby where I live. I already tried to disconnect the battery, but that did not work.

Not all vehicles will reset the service due lamp when unhooking the battery terminals. Most will save this in the PCM memory, the same way as the flagged fault codes. Try disconnecting the battery overnight and if this does not solve the problem you might have to either find someone with the service reset module do it for you or you might keep driving it that way until you find a solution. Just make sure that you record your next mileage service before doing so. If you do not succeed in finding a solution you might try and shoot this question in some dedicated Infiniti QX4 forums.
Alternatively you can buy this service reset module if you manage to find one compatible for your Infiniti QX4. They aren’t that expensive.
