Professional Grade OBD-II Eobd Code Reader scanner is $159.77. Is it expensive?

I recently came across a car reader  EOBD II can extract the fault codes in the ECU memory and was for sale at around $49.00 with free shipping. I thought is this good enough for the job, and should I risk my low investment purchase? I don’t mind risking in loosing those $50 bucks, but I am concerned if I can blow up my engine. There was no mention of my car in their list. I also seem to recall in finding what seemed the same tool visually at  $159.77 from the same electronic tool manufacturer. What is the difference?
My car is a Daewoo.

Never buy they cheapest as a general rule of thumb as it will bite back. This does not mean you have to spend bonkers money but a good quality tool is what you should be after. The difference in price you mentioned was probably because the cheapest one was just a code reader, while the other one was a more complex tool called the scanner which has more capabilities than just reading the fault codes.
