obd1 and obd2 scanner!!?? What brands to buy?
My family cars:
1993 Nissan Quest XE
2005 Mazda 3 (used)
I’m about to purchase an obd scanner soon, but I dont know of any high quality scanner brands. I’m looking for a scanner that can read both OBD1 and OBD2 codes since I have a car of 1993 and 2005 used car. I’ve heard about “Actron” scanners, the orange ones. I’m looking for a scanner that’s not too expensive but also not too cheap (crap quality)!
All I want is to be able to read all ALL trouble codes!! Does the scanner need to be hooked up to a laptop for simulations and troubleshooting work? Does the scanner come with any pc software in conjunction to the scanner?
I don’t know of any with dual capabilities.
Go with the Actron for OBDII or Equus Innova. You do not need a laptop to use a code reader or scanner. The scanner gives you live data and any logged or intermittent fault codes. When laptops get involved is more complex that one might need and is used for tuning rather than general obd fault codes.
Your ’93 Nissan has self-diagnostic capabilities.
